Maxim Valerievich Shcheogolev (Максим Валерьевич Щёголев, born April 20, 1982, Voronezh, USSR) is a popular Russian theatre and film actor, best known for roles in criminal and romantic movies and serials like ''Karpov'' (2008), ''The Second Breath'' (2008), for which he received a Russian Army "Fighters' Brotherhood" Medal, and ''The Lone Wolf'', 2012. He was also a 2011 Golden Rhino Award laureate for supporting male role in the film ''Marriage at Will'' (2011).
==Biography==
Maxim Shchyogolev was born in Voronezh on April 20, 1982. His father Valery Konstantinovich is an Army officer, mother Irina Alexandrovna a doctor. The boy excelled at school and planned to take up a medical profession, but unexpected financial difficulties changed his whole life. Before the graduation it became obvious that he won't get a golden medal which would make sure he'd have to take just one exam. As the new commercial system started to get implemented in the Russian educational system, the family found that they could not afford to pay for all of the exams and, so as not to be recruited to the Army, Maxim made an eleventh hour decision and enrolled into a drama faculty of Voronezh State Academy of Arts. Here the first year student was noticed by the Moscow Luna Theatre's director Sergey Prokhanov who invited him to join his own troupe and transferred him to his own class in RAoTA. In 2003, after the graduation, Shchyogolev joined the MAT's School of Drama Art studio led by another well-known director, Anatoly Vasilyev, where he studied under the supervision of guest directors Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards.〔
In 2001-2005 Shchyogolev was cast in several small (mostly, villainous) roles in films. Then came the 150-series ''The Young and Angry'' (2006) TV criminal drama where he's got the key role of Demidov. It was followed by ''The Second Breath'' (2008) for which he was awarded the ''Fighters Brotherhood'' medal, ''One Day'' (2009), ''Dembel'' (2010), ''Girl Hunters'' (2011), ''I Will Come Myself'' (2012) and ''The Lone Wolf'' (2013), gaining him a reputation of one of the leading Russian actors of his generation.〔
